美《华日》阻挠员工郑嘉如参与记协主席选举罪成

香港记者协会主席郑嘉如先被雇主《华尔街日报》(简称《华日》，WSJ）要求退选主席丶後在当选后不足一个月遭公司以「职位重组」为由解雇，为此提出私人检控，控告《华日》母公司违反《雇佣条例》。法庭周四（10日）裁定，被告涉及「阻止或阻吓雇员参与工会」的罪名成立，是香港第三宗雇主因阻止员工参与工会工作而被成功检控的个案。不过，另一项涉及因郑嘉如行使参与工会的权利而被解雇的罪名则不成立。郑嘉如认为，法庭的裁决有理和公平，但并非所有雇员有资源提私人检控，政府理应为雇员向违法的雇主提告，才能保护雇员参与工会的权益。
